 Therapeutic actions:

Several authors recommend it in dropsy, gout, liver enlargement. Chomel indicates it in a sore throat and as vulverary. The flowers of Honeysuckle are sedative, antispasmodic, once used in cough, asthma, palpitations.

It restores the liver function in cases of hepatomegaly, jaundice (associated to Box and Holly) and acts in both acute and chronic hepatitis.

For the spleen, Honeysuckle is effective in splenomegaly.

It is mainly active in upper respiratory tract infections, including dry and convulsive cough, in trachea-bronchitis where it operates as a bronchial decongestant and expectorant.

This is a sedative of cough, spasmodic asthma and hiccups. It is also mentioned in laryngitis with hoarseness and aphonia.

As an antispasmodic, it is indicated in the cholecysto-cardiac syndrome where it facilitates the rebalancing of the biliary function and peristalsis of the cardiac muscle.

As anti-inflammatory, it is involved in conjunctivitis, cervicitis (ulceration of the cervix).

For the joints, it treats gout, generalized gouty rheumatisms, including large deformations. It is prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic inflammatory disorder and ankylosing spondylitis.
