Description
Echinacea and goldenseal are two of the popular North American herbs used during cold and flu season.
Echinacea & Goldenseal Extract combines two species of echinacea with goldenseal root in a liquid extract, for maximum benefit of these traditional herbs.
Did you know? Echinacea was first introduced to the medical community in 1887. By the 1930s it had become the top-selling herb among physicians in the United States for a multitude of conditions, including the lessening of cold and flu symptoms for which it is recognized today. The mechanisms by which echinacea works are not fully understood. The plant’s polysaccharides are thought to inhibit the ability of viruses to enter and take over cells, while aklomides are considered antibacterial. Goldenseal root contains certain alkaloids, namely berberine and hydrastine. These alkaloids in goldenseal have a strong affinity to the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
