Moisturizing Bug Repellent Recipe

Holy moly I don’t know about where you are at but around here the mosquitos and ticks are rampant!!

Here are a couple bug spray recipes to help keep the nasty pests off your family and dogs.

Start with a spray bottle size of your choice, we prefer a 120 ml bottle as the size is still manageable if it needs to be thrown in a purse or backpack but with enough in it to get you through.  But no matter the size of the bottle your base will be the same ratio for all members of your family.

  • Fill the bottle to ¼ full with Aloe Vera Juice. Fill the remaining ¾ with half witch hazel and half distilled water.

Adult/ Dog Formula: 10 drops of each (60 drops per 120 ml bottle)

  • Cedarwood
  • Citronella
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass
  • Rosemary

Children Under 6 Formula: 5-6 drops of each (20-25 drops per 120 ml bottle)

  • Citronella
  • Geranium
  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass (Omit for children under 1)

Shake well before and during use. It’s good practice to try a test patch before extensive use, especially for people with sensitive skin. Spray on exposed skin and avoid contact with eyes. Re-apply after swimming or excessive perspiration.

For dogs it may be sprayed directly onto their coat, however avoid the face and eyes.
